This suit was filed by Charlie Weis, head coach of the football team at the University of Notre Dame, in the wake of a laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass performed on 6/14/2002. APS is pleased to announce the newest addition to our Perinatal Safety Curriculum — Postpartum Hemorrhage. Obstetrical hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal mortality, accounting for 24% of maternal deaths. Recent studies estimate that between 70–95% of those deaths are preventable.
