MDAdvantage supports APS’s NJ Perinatal Safety Initiative
Lawrenceville, NJ, June 2, 2010 – MDAdvantage, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance in New Jersey, today announced its support of Advanced Practice Strategies, Inc.’s Perinatal Safety Initiative in New Jersey. The Perinatal Safety Initiative is aimed at improving maternal-child health, a mission held by MDAdvantage as well as Advanced Practice Strategies (APS), a leading provider of online education solutions for patient safety.
With the Perinatal Safety Initiative, APS is offering a 25% discount for its online perinatal safety curriculum through July 30, 2010. The innovative curriculum focuses on clinically rich, interactive team-oriented training and addresses many of the drivers of obstetrical claims and adverse outcomes that New Jersey hospitals and obstetricians are continuing to experience. The online training not only centers on clinical challenges, but also includes a pivotal focus on critical elements of communication.
“MDAdvantage is committed to promoting patient safety and supporting best practices in medicine,” stated Chairman and CEO Patricia A. Costante. “We constantly seek to partner with experts in the field who can bring additional knowledge and training to our New Jersey physicians, and we view APS as a leader in online education for obstetric clinicians.”
APS’s Perinatal Safety Curriculum is consistent with the guidelines proposed by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), supported by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and accredited for CME via joint sponsorship with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Through years of experience working with strategic partners such as HCA, Harvard’s CRICO/RMF, Stanford Hospitals and AORN, APS has demonstrated success in reducing risk and fostering patient safety, with more than 180,000 licenses sold across the country.
“At APS, our goal is to empower clinicians with cutting edge knowledge that enables them to deliver the highest quality and safest care possible,” says Chief Medical Officer Dr. Martin November. “There is no time to waste in healthcare, so information must be communicated in the most impactful way possible. Our courses are designed to be very efficient and effective knowledge delivery tools.”
